Description

There are several risks associated with assembling a scaffold and this practice requires advanced technical knowledge. Regulatory provisions require that scaffolding must be erected by qualified personnel.

Target Audience

Workers having to assemble modular or metal frame scaffolding of less 18 metres (60 ft).

Objectives

  • Be able to assemble and dismantle a scaffold;
  • Know the rules and standards that apply to scaffolding;
  • Be able to inspect a scaffold.

  • Regulations and standards;
  • Types of scaffolding (in particular, modular and metal frame);
  • Principle of assembly;
  • Scaffold risks: intrinsic and extrinsic;
  • Stability and anchoring;
  • Access;
  • Protection from falling;
  • Inspection.

Educational approach

Presentation, interactive activities, video and practical exercises (assembly of three sections of a metal frame scaffold—modular on request)

Note

Safety boots, safety glasses and gloves are required for this course.

Duration

Between 4 and 8 hours (depending on number of participants, maximum 10).
