Objectives

The purpose of this course is:

• To help logistics managers to manage the physical flow of goods, and the associated information flow, in close cooperation with various partners: suppliers, clients, transporters and distributors;
• To explore the concepts of supply chain management (SCM) in a global economy.

This course shows how to design production facility and effective distribution networks and how to control the flow of goods within global logistics networks. It also examines business networks, facility capacity planning and business site selection.

The course also touches on optimizing material flow and goods storage in supply, production and distribution systems. It looks at allocation decisions in various logistics systems—that is, deciding when and how much to order or produce. As well, it considers flow and space in warehouses. The focus is on current templates to aid in decision-making and on the application of logistics management methods.
