Description

This course is required in order to access the Iron Ore Company of Canada sites at Sept-Îles and Labrador City. The English version of this training is available in an e-learning format. Obtaining site access also requires workers to take and pass a screening test for drugs and alcohol. See the applicable procedures below, in the “Notes” section.

Other requirements

To access IOC site, complete the training and SIM must have received :

  • The results of the drug screening test, provided by an IOC-authorized laboratory.
  • To have access to IOC work sites, all contractor employees must be at least 18 years old.

Note that drug screening test is now good for life; it must be submitted for any worker visiting the site for the first time.

Objectives

The purpose of the IOC Induction course is to prepare contractors to work at IOC sites. The Company has implemented several policies, procedures and management systems with which contractors must be familiar and in compliance in order to work at IOC:

  • Policy & Legislation;
  • Standards & Values;
  • Work wear & Housekeeping;
  • General rules;
  • Emergencies;
  • Security;
  • Site Access & Driving;
  • Restricted Access;
  • Risk Management;
  • Safety Hazards;
  • Health Hazards;
  • Waste Management;
  • Environment Management.

Registration and payment

The cost of this course is $45 + taxes per participant and is assumed by the contractors.
Payment is made online by credit card. You must:

  • Indicate how many places are required;
  • You will be taken to the reservation shopping cart;
  • Confirm the reservation;
  • Make the online payment (secure transaction site);
  • Enter the names of the participants.

You will receive an email message containing confirmation of your registration, a receipt of payment and training access.

Target audience

All contractors who must work at or access the sites at Sept-Îles and Labrador City. The 90 minutes IOC Induction e-learning training is required for all contractor employees who:

  • Are working at an IOC site for the first time;
  • Have passed 6 consecutive months without working at an IOC site.

Note that this training is good for life.
