Description

Bridge crane operators are required to master the rules of prevention for industrial accidents through accountability and safe slinging.

Note: The complete version of this training course will always be given, regardless of the title, which may be Full or Review.

Note that those participants registered for the course given at Fermont will have to drive themselves in the afternoon to Roger’s Electric, 7 2nd Avenue, Labrador, NL, for the practical part of the course.

Target audience

Beginner and experienced bridge crane operators.

Objectives

At the end of the course, each participant will be able to safely operate a bridge crane by:

  • Using the equipment properly;
  • Applying the work procedures and regulatory requirements applicable to these devices;
  • Knowing the risks associated with the operation of a bridge crane in the plant.

  • Description and operation;
  • Operating hoists and bridge cranes;
  • Inspection and check;
  • Signaling and the work environment;
  • Operator responsibility;
  • Safety;
  • Load calculation;
  • Slinging techniques;
  • Sling inspection.

Note

Boots, hardhat and safety goggles are required for each participant.

Educational approach

Presentations, exercises, and class participation.

Evaluation

An exam is used to assess knowledge.

Duration

8 hours.

The duration of the training can differ according to your needs when it is given in private enterprise.
